I am a seasoned software professional with over six years of experience in delivering impactful solutions. Recently, I’ve dedicated the past few years to the civic tech space, developing software for federal agencies. During this time, I’ve also contributed to several open-source projects. Before my civic tech work, I consulted on enterprise software projects for financial technology companies. I have a passion for all aspects of software, from development to security, and I am always eager to learn and explore new technologies.

Work

Software Engineer III - TrussWorks

Remote

2022 - 2024

In this role, I worked on a project with the United States Space Force building an application meant to be the single-source of truth for Guardians. Prior to building the application, members of the Space Force were getting work-related news and announcements from various applications online, some of those channels official, others not so much. Working on a small, cross-functional team, we built a web portal where users could have a customizable dashboard for every day use that contained links to other systems, news, announcements, a personnel directory, and the list goes on. In order to provide content for the web portal, we also built a custom CMS using open-source tools, building out a robust set of features for CMS users to write and create content. This project presented a lot of complex challenges, but in the end, over 80% of Guardians were using our platform.

Software Engineer - Freelance Consultant

Remote

2020 - 2022

During this period I had the opportunity to consult with a few businesses, where I provided a myriad of services. In early 2020, I did some work with a company that was a HubSpot partner. They managed HubSpot accounts for several small businesses, and they needed me to help them build and maintain various websites their clients were hosting through HubSpot. I also had the opportunity to consult with a couple of fintech companies during this time. The first company managed over $2 billion in assets, and were looking for a custom application to manage their portfolio. Myself and two other engineers built them an application where they could drag-and-drop various components to build complex trades, and execute those trades in real-time. The app also included a messaging platform where they could communicate with clients, and a customizable dashboard where they could visualize financial data. The second fintech company was earlier in their journey and operating in the algorithmic trading space. I built out their main customer-facing dashboard, where users could view their portfolio, and visualize financial data.

Frontend Engineer - Kemper Insurance

Birmingham, Alabama

2018 - 2020

My first job as a developer. I started out at Infinity Insurance, but they were acquired by Kemper during my time there. In this role, I worked on the Marketing team, primarily building landing pages and crafting email templates for nationwide marketing campaigns. Occasionally, I would get to work on something a little more challenging. The biggest project I tackled during my time there was a collaborative effort between the Marketing team and the Data Science team. The latter were working on an algorithm to predict markets that the company’s insurance offerings would perform well in. My task was to build a data pipeline for them to consume data that the Marketing team was collecting from ad campaigns. Using Python, I built a solution to aggregrate and format data from both Google Analytics and HubSpot, and push the result into a Vertica database.
